Avuria is the perfect map for a long campaign with a clear goal in mind: reach Castle Mythra in the far north.
The players start in Aturia, the capital of the civilized Kingdom of Turinia. To reach Castle Mythra, they will have to cross the less friendly Kingdom of Urgit or the Smoking Swamps. From there, they can either cross the Herim desert and visit the last Elven stronghold or they cross the dwarven Kingdom of Dornia in the west. A 3rd option is to follow the eastern pirate coast, maybe even visiting the Blackwater Islands.
When they managed to survive all that, passing a volcano, mysterious crystals, an old crater and a magical lake with the Mother Tree, they can choose to cross the barbaric Kingdom of Valdia or sail and risk finding out what secrets the Maelstrom of Thyra holds.
