A novel by J.M. Turner:

From the rolling plains of Layruin, to the harsh sands of the Saad, the world of “The Fine Edge of Dawn” is a character in of itself. Like the story unfolding within them, these lands will keep you hooked and desperate to see what lies around the next bend.

The above map is the result of a very positive collaboration with fantasy author J.M. Turner. Three sketches of three separate regions were provided along with a clear description of this part of the world that’s the setting for The Fine Edge of Dawn

For a mapmaker, it’s a pleasant thing when you get some creative freedom, while the parts that are important to the story of an author are clearly outlined. My personal favorite part of this world is the giant body of water that separates, but also in a way connects all three regions. The islands scattered around the inlet can play a vital role in all sorts of things, from geopolitics to piracy.
